Acro for Dance

Class Time: 1 hour

Description

Learn the basics or work on advancing your skills in this flexible Acro class! Acro is not the typical tumbling or gymnastics class. Our experienced acro instructors will guide the class towards increased flexibility, balance, strength, muscle control, discipline and concentration. This class will focus on fundamental acrobatic technique, teaching such skills as handstands, chin stands, elbow stands, cartwheels, back bends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks, all at each student’s individual level of experience. And it’s fun, too

Dress Code

*Hair secured tightly away from face
*Form fitting dance clothes with sports bra
*No footed tights
*No loose or baggy clothes

Recommended Shoes

*Bare feet only

Pre-requisites

Acro I/II- Ages 8+, This class will focus on learning the proper technique in cartwheels, handstands, front limbers, back bends while also working on increasing flexibility and strength.

Acro II/III- Ages 9+, at least 2 years of acro/gym training; front walkover, back walkover, displays proper technique in skills, good upper body and core strength, spacial awareness, splits all 3 ways. Students in the class will work on developing upper body and core strength, back and leg flexibility, straight-leg scorpions, aerials, spider rolls and more!

Acro III/IV- Ages 11+, at least 3 years of acro/gym training. Arial’s, one handed-front walkers, back walkers, spider rolls, chin stand, fore-arm stand hold for 10 seconds, over splits all 3 ways, straight leg scorpion with proper technique plus student displays strong upper body, core and leg strength. Students on this class will work on front aerials, side aerial tricks, standing spider rolls and more advanced acro and floor tricks.
